Jason Hawkins ALCM LRSM MusB(Hons) PGCE works as a full-time Freelance Musician and is based in Yorkshire. Jason worked for the UK’s leading arts organisations including The Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Singers, The Armonico Consort, The Exon Singers and The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). As a Pianist and Organist, Jason’s performances have been broadcast on ITV, Irish TV, BBC TV and on BBC Radio. Jason has performed extensively throughout the UK and Europe. This has included performances at major venues such as The Royal Albert Hall (London), The Bridgewater Hall (Manchester), Symphony Hall (Birmingham), The Sage Gateshead (Newcastle), Mechalan Cathedral (Belgium), The American Cathedral (Paris) and Disneyland Paris amoungst numerous others.
Jason is in demand throughout the UK as a Choral Conductor, Choral Animateur and Musical Director working in both Classical and Musical Theatre contexts. Currently, Jason is Musically Directing 'Oliver! (Lionel Bart)' in Wakefield. Recently, Jason was appointed Morley Music Society's permanent Musical Director opening their 77th Season with Mendelssohn's Elijah. Jason has held a variety of Director of Music, Organist and Choirmaster postings at large parishes within The Church of England and Church of Scotland and is currently Organist for Morley Central Methodist Church.
Jason teaches the Piano and Organ throughout Yorkshire at leading educational institutions and owns a private teaching practice. Numerous pupils are ABRSM Diploma Level and preparing for Conservatoire and University entrance. Jason also has considerable experience working within charitable and mental health settings. Jason is also Trustee for Ramsbottom Music Festival.
As a Composer and Sound Artist, Jason's work has delighted audiences across the UK. Jason catalog includes works for Children’s Choir, Male Voice Choir, Acapella Choir, Orchestra and Piano. Jason's latest Sound Installation will be announced early 2020.
Initially, Jason studied supported by a scholarship at Chetham's School of Music receiving the Michael Abraham Piano Prize for Piano Sightreading and continued his musical studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. During this time Jason also became a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM). Following the RNCM, Jason graduated from The University of Manchester in 2014 with a first-class honours degree in Music, specialising in Piano and Composition. Recently, Jason became an Associate of the London College of Music (ALCM) in Music Composition and completed a PGCE in Primary Education at The University of Cumbria. Currently, Jason is studying for a MA in Education at University College London.
